All schools will dismiss students early on Tuesday and Wednesday due to extreme heat

Staff will work the full day, but professional development sessions are canceled.

Mayor Kenney and members of the new school board enter Muñoz-Marin Elementary for a tour on the first day of school.

School started a week early this year, right in the middle of a heat wave. High temperatures around 95 degrees are in the forecast. All students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 28 and 29), and all afterschool activities for students are canceled.

School staff will still work full days, and the District’s central office at 440 N. Broad St. will remain open for regular weekday hours. But professional development sessions that were scheduled for those days are canceled.

Parents and staff can monitor the District website and Facebook page for further details.

Updated information will also be posted on the District’s Information Hotline at 215-400-4636.
