The School District on Friday is hosting its annual back-to-school expo to help students and their families prepare for the upcoming school year.

The event, being held this year at the School of the Future on Parkside Avenue in West Philadelphia, features information sessions as well as giveaways of backpacks, books, and sneakers, among other items. Activities run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than 100 organizations will be represented and ready to help parents. Sponsors include Radio One, Comcast Internet Essentials, Elliott-Lewis and Forman Mills.

Parents can enroll their children for school on-site. Information will be available on everything from uniforms to college readiness. District officials will answer questions about school lunch, transportation, and its online communication portal.

Last year, 14,000 parents and students attended.

Information on the event in other languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and Chinese, is available here.

Representatives from the Notebook will be present at a table handing out copies of the current and past editions. Please stop by to say hello.
