Our year-end drive to support independent education journalism

This article was originally published in The Notebook. In August 2020, The Notebook became Chalkbeat Philadelphia.

As we face a year of big changes both internal and external – the upcoming hiring of a new Notebook publisher, continuing improvements to our brand new website, a new state budget (hopefully), and a newly elected mayor and City Council members – the Notebook staff is reaching out to our readers for support.

We recently launched our annual year-end campaign (many of you received letters in the mail) with the goal of raising $20,000. Last year, we raised $16,700 in our year-end campaign – our best result ever. You can donate online here. Please give as generously as you can to sustain this vital, community-based nonprofit news source. With local news organizations laying off staff or closing, our role as an independent watchdog of the Philadelphia public school system is more vital than ever. But more than ever, we depend on the support from you – our readers – to fund our investigative journalism and daily online news coverage.

If you are not yet a member for 2015-16, you can join the Notebook community with a tax-deductible donation of $40 or more and receive member benefits such as delivery of our print edition and invitations to members-only events. Your membership will extend through June 30, 2016. Donate online today or by mail to: the Notebook, 699 Ranstead St., 3rd Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
