A goal-planning seminar for high school females transitioning to college this year will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Friends Center, 1501 Cherry St., in Philadelphia.

Phenomenally U: Girl! Get Your Goals Right in 2015” was created to help college-bound women make a smooth transition from high school. Lacey C. Clark, author of Phenomenally U: A Young Woman’s Guide to Being Safe, Smart, and Successful in College, will host the event, providing strategies, encouragement and “practical” support.

"So many young women are unaware of the tools needed to successfully transition from high school girl to college woman,” said Clark. “Our young women can get distracted along the way. This seminar is designed to support them in keeping their minds focused on greatness and success in 2015 and beyond.”

Attendees of the seminar will learn how to become transparent about their goals for 2015, create a high school-to-college transition plan, and receive support and encouragement to stay motivated throughout the transition. Clark said this includes teaching what social responsibility looks like on a college campus and navigating typical freshman-year distractions in advance.

A graduate of New York University, Clark said she was a first-generation student and recalled not having someone available to provide the ins and outs of college preparation, which inspired her dream of helping others.

Now a speaker, author, life coach and media personality, she created her company Sisters’ Sanctuary and the brand Phenomenally U to support positive lifestyles and empowerment in young women, as well as preparing them for the college experience.

Registration for the seminar closes Jan. 21 and costs $49 per person. For a limited time, women who register with three friends will receive a discount.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Center for Returning Citizens Kidz Drop-in Center.
