Seeking memorabilia from 20 turbulent years

This article was originally published in The Notebook. In August 2020, The Notebook became Chalkbeat Philadelphia.

As part of the Notebook‘s June 10 celebration marking 20 years of publishing, we are assembling a collection of memorabilia that illustrate and illuminate these turbulent years in the Philadelphia public schools and the efforts to improve them. We’re inviting Notebook readers to lend or donate objects to display at our June 10 event.

Our goal is to be able to showcase a few dozen significant school-related items from the 1994-2014 period as part of a visual display, which will also include photographs by Harvey Finkle and cartoons by Eric Joselyn that have appeared on the pages of the Notebook.

If you have an item of memorabilia you would like to donate or to lend for this display — a button, flyer, T-shirt, banner, sign, publication, etc — please send us an email with a picture and/or description of the object.

The COVID-19 outbreak is changing our daily reality

Chalkbeat is a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to providing the information families and educators need, but this kind of work isn't possible without your help.
