With smart boards, iPhones, and laptops taking over the classroom, School of the Future will hold a forum on Friday, April 26, to encourage the use of technology as a learning tool. The forum is centered around an educators competition, and winners of the contest will earn a trip to Microsoft’s Global Forum, which was held in Prague last year.

Demonstrations of new teaching technologies will run throughout the weekend to help educators learn how to use items like smart boards and Xboxes in the classroom. Most events will run on Saturday, including a speech from Superintendent William Hite and the competition, featuring projects from teachers and school leaders that focus on using technology in class.

Interested teachers can register to attend the forum. The cost runs $150 for the full conference and $100 for just the events on Saturday.

School of the Future, 4021 Parkside Ave., is part of a collaboration between Microsoft and the School District of Philadelphia.
