As teachers gear up to return to schools, the U.S Department of Education is launching Connected Education Month (CEM) in August 2012. Throughout the month, there will be online events and activities designed to help teachers develop skills to enhance their personal learning networks.
I will be co-hosting a Twitter chat with Meenoo Rami, founder and moderator of #engchat, at 7 p.m EDT/4 p.m PDT on Aug. 27. The conversation will focus on networked professional learning. Please plan to participate.
Rami was among the 33 admired educators featured in this Learning Network column in the New York Times that provided CEM tips on leveraging the power of personal learning networks.
Teachers, parents and students are invited to participate in one of the many CEM events. To learn more about the scheduled events, visit CEM, NWP Digital Is, or Edutopia (Design Thinking for Educators).
In a related event, I have been invited to participate in Bellwether Education Partners’ "Better Blogging: Skills and Tools for Teacher Bloggers" workshop on Aug. 11. The workshop is the brainchild of Andrew Rotherham, co-founder of Bellwether, a blogger, and a columnist for TIME. I plan to write about it afterward.
