Tonight 7:00 p.m. I will host #engchat and continue the conversation that Timothy Boyle and I convened at EducCon 2.4, entitled "Teachers as innovators and social entrepreneurs."

#engchat is a community of English teachers collaborating with one another via Twitter to share ideas and resources. It attracts teachers from all over the country for rich conversations and sharing every Monday from 7-8 p.m.

Part of my conversation will focus on the role innovation plays at the classroom level in true school reform. The conversation will also explore a landscape where teachers can network and present innovative educational projects.

I often hear that small businesses are touted as the engine of economic growth in America. In my conversation I hope to discuss, “what if teachers’ classrooms were viewed as the engines for innovation and creativity?”

We have future plans to sponsor a Philly Teacher Innovation Meetup group, and will informally discuss planning it at the next Notebook happy hour event. We plan to keep this conversation ongoing.

Keep up with my blog to learn more.
