Please join the Notebook and Young Friends of the Philadelphia Youth Network for a happy hour on Wednesday, February 8 from 4-6 p.m. at Johnny Brenda’s to celebrate the release of our February 2012 edition that addresses the dropout crisis in Philly.
In this issue we take a specific look at how the Kensington neighborhood has been affected by the dropout crisis. Notebook reporters and designers, and some of those interviewed in this edition will be on-hand to answer questions about the edition or just to chat.
This first happy hour of 2012 picks up where we left off in 2011 – looking forward to another year of great coverage on education issues in Philly that affect all of our communities. We hope you’ll join us along with other readers, friends, and fans of the Notebook.
We are pleased that this happy hour is being co-sponsored by the Young Friends of PYN. By raising awareness through fundraising, events and networking, the Young Friends of PYN supports the mission and vision of PYN. Each year, WorkReady Philadelphia, managed by PYN, provides thousands of young people with meaningful workplace experiences, connections to caring adults, and exposes them to potential careers while sparking their interest in higher education – opportunities designed to enhance participants’ understanding and mastery of skills needed to be successful in a 21st century, global economy.
Join Young Friends of PYN and the Notebook next Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at Johnny Brenda’s to learn how you can get involved in preparing today’s youth for tomorrow’s workforce!
