Need in Deed’s annual education event to focus on leadership transition

If your organization is in the process of a change in leadership or is contemplating one and wants to know how to do it amid a changing public education landscape, then consider attending Need in Deed’s 3rd annual education forum.

The forum, called “Education Nonprofits and the Changing Leadership Landscape,” will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, on the 14th floor at The Hub/City View, United Plaza, 30 S. 17th St. The deadline to RSVP for the event is Thursday, Nov. 1.

Need in Deed, a local nonprofit dedicated to developing service-learning curricula, passed the torch this year to its new executive director, Kimberly Kirn. At the forum, Kirn will join Debra Kahn, executive director of Delaware Valley Grantmakers, Darren Spielman, executive director of Philadelphia Education Fund, and Stanford Thompson, CEO of Play On, Philly!, for a conversation that will explore three questions from their perspectives as leaders:

  1. Is your organization in the midst of or contemplating a generational leadership transition?
  2. Are you interested in Philadelphia’s rapidly changing public education system and in how some of the leadership challenges are being addressed?
  3. Do you support an organization that provides much-needed programming or services to local schools?

The moderators for the event will be Praxis Consulting Group’s Nancie Zane and Linshuang Lu. Attendees should come early to mix, mingle, grab a snack, and to enjoy a musical treat.
