Next Tuesday, June 14, Teacher Action Group and Public Citizens for Children and Youth will host a presentation on the start-up of the Renaissance Schools Initiative by Research for Action.

Released last month, the study focuses on the early implementation of the first cohort of Renaissance schools. Commissioned by Accountability Review Council to present to the School Reform Commission, Research for Action’s study is the first comprehensive look into the Renaissance schools movement.

Research for Action conducted its research in the schools, at School Advisory Council meetings, and with District and charter leadership from March 2010 to January 2011. Topics to be discussed are student enrollment and school climate, School Advisory Councils, and school leadership and staffing.

Following Research for Action’s presentation will be a panel discussion lead by members of the Teacher Action Group and PCCY. The event will be held at the United Way Building at 6 p.m on June 14th. Come out and educate yourself from the people who know the effects of the Renaissance Initiative best.
