Serious incident reports by school now on District website

This article was originally published in The Notebook. In August 2020, The Notebook became Chalkbeat Philadelphia.

As part of its renewed commitment to transparency, and no doubt partly in response to the Inquirer‘s focus on school violence, the School District has added year-to-date serious incident reports for each school to its website. The information is available on each school’s profile page.

Now, accessing the information requires several steps, but Director of Communications Fernando Gallard said that the District is working on how to make the information easier to access. The list will be updated each month, he said. The current reports include incidents as recent as last week.

To access the information:

  • Visit the District website’s "Schools" section.
  • Select a school profile from the lists.
  • On the lower, left-hand side of the page is an "Additional Information" section.
  • At the bottom of that section is a PDF with the "YTD Incident Report."

For example, here is the incident report for Arthur Elementary.

Each school profile already includes a graph that looks at serious incidents over the past several years. This addition gives a monthly update and gives the date and nature of the incident.
