The Philadelphia School District’s Supplemental Education Services program provides free tutoring to eligible students as part of the No Child Left Behind Act. My center is one of several approved providers. This program offers students an amazing opportunity to improve their academic skills at no cost.
At the end of September, the parents of as many as 40,000 students will be sent enrollment forms. However, many of them do not understand what they have received nor realize that they have a limited time to take advantage of the offer.
The process is simple. All parents need to do is fill out an enrollment form selecting their top three provider choices. They then submit that form to the provider that they selected as their top choice. I think the biggest issue is that parents are unaware that their children can receive free tutoring.
